A rosary is scheduled for 6 pm, Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at Ballard Chapel for Ernesto G. Rubio, 98, who passed away Sunday, November 16, 2014 in Roswell. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10 am, Wednesday, November 19, 2014 also at St. Johns Catholic Church with Father Eduard Espinosa of St. Johns Catholic Church officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Ernesto was born February 10, 1916 in Presidio, TX to Secundino Rubio and Jesusita Gutierrez Rubio whom preceded him in death. His wife Juanita Rivera Rubio preceded him in death October 6, 1990.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons Fidel Rubio and the mother of his children Tona Urias, Vicente Rubio and wife Juanita and Albert Rubio and Celia daughters Amparo Lujan and husband Ignacio, Licha Rubio, Carmen Hernandez and husband Louis and Juanita Sundgren twentyone grandchildren, fortynine great grandchildren and fifteen greatgreat grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Chon Rubio and survived by the mother of his children Bennie Lujan.
Ernesto resided in Roswell, NM for the past fortyfive years coming from Presidio, TX. He was of the catholic faith and a member of St. Johns Catholic Church. Ernesto enjoyed watching boxing and baseball he was excited about this years World Series and pulled for the Royals but the Dodgers were his team. Ernesto will be deeply missed by all who loved and knew him.
Serving as pallbearers are Chris Dominguez, Jaime Trevizo, Ignacio Lujan, Daniel Rubio and Anthony Rubio. Honorary pallbearers are Pete Lujan, Eben Sundgren, Nestor Rubio, David Rubio, Margarito Rubio and John Paul Lujan.
