Christy Wilkinson

November 18, 1959 — January 8, 2015

Christy Jo Wilkinson, 55, of Ruidoso, NM went to meet the Lord Thursday, January 8, 2015. She will lie in repose on Monday, January 12, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Ballard Funeral Home in Roswell, NM. A rosary is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. directly followed by a mass at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Christy was born November 18, 1959, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Mr. Timothy Paul Wilkinson and Gloria (Lori) Wilkinson. Her parents preceded her in death. She was also predeceased by her little sister, Carrie Hadsall. Christy is survived by her sons, Ryan Burden, his wife Lindsay and their three girls Jaylynn, Kaitlynn and Brooklynn, as she lovingly referred to as "my three grandbaby girls," of Roswell, Chet Wilkinson and his wife Lacie, of Roswell, Elliott Corn, of Roswell, and her loving sister Cindy Gazdik and her husband Terry, also of Roswell. Christy is also survived by her nieces, Julie Walls and her husband Jonathon, Jessica McGuire and her husband Aaron, and her nephews, Jeffrey Gazdik, Nathan Hadsall and his wife Teresa, Jason Gazdik (her much-loved godson) and his wife Erica and four great-nieces and nephews.

Christy spent the majority of her childhood in Dousman, WI. She often spoke of the fond memories she had as a young girl growing up. She always held her friends, near and far, close to her heart. Christy graduated from Kettle Moraine High School in Wales, WI. and then moved to Roswell, NM with her family in 1977. She later attended Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell.

Christy was dedicated to her family and always emphasized the importance of keeping with family traditions. She especially enjoyed holiday family gatherings, birthday celebrations and always went out of her way to let people know she was thinking or praying for them. Christy was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and would frequently call family members in the middle of a game to share her excitement. She found great pleasure in gardening, camping, hunting and basking in the sun.

One of Christy's favorite prayers is The Prayer of St. Francis:
Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is discord, harmony;
Where there is error, truth;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek To be consoled as to console;
To be understood as to understand;
To be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
