Charles Carmichael

June 26, 1939 — February 1, 2023

Charles Dewey Carmichael, 83 of Artesia New Mexico passed away February 1, 2023, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Charles (Chuck) was born in southern Ohio in 1939 to Ralph and Maxine Carmichael. The Carmichaels moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico for the dry climate. In a sense of duty to serve his country Chuck left his senior year of high school and enlisted in the Navy.

After serving four years in the military, Chuck moved back to Ohio where he met Ellen. She had two children, Karren, and Daniel. In 1964, Chuck and Ellen got married and in 1965 James was born. Chuck became an electrician and owned a successful electrical contracting business.

In 1978, Chuck moved back to New Mexico due to health issues and to be closer to his family. In 1982, Chuck became the manager of an asphalt plant in Artesia, New Mexico. In 1993 Chuck went to work for Navajo Refining and retired in 2004. Chuck was a hardworking man and aways liked the work that he did. He liked the people that he worked with. Chuck was thankful for the relationships and the opportunity to be part of the team.

Chuck loved to go camping, fishing, and hunting. He was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed working on projects around the house and projects with family and friends.

Chuck, most of all Loved his family, friends, and life in general.

No matter where I go or what I do Dad, you will always be with me! I Love you, Dad. James.

Uncle Chuck, the best Uncle ever from Kathy and Kimberli, (nieces) RIP.

Chuck went to the best happy hunting grounds ever; the only thing is he took the wrong rifle. David (brother).

From the get-go, I always felt welcome in your family Chuck. Thank you and I love you so much Sandi (Dave’s wife).
