Zeferino Jaramillo, 77, passed away in his home on Saturday, September 5, 2009 in Roswell, New Mexico. A rosary will be held Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 7:00 PM at St. Johns Catholic Church. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday, September 9, 2009, 10:00 AM at St. Johns Catholic Church. Fr. Juan Montoya, O.F.M. will officiate.
Zeferino was born in Mattamors, Mexico on August 26, 1932 to Francisco Barraza and Concepcion Jaramillo. He married Maria Zapata on January 18, 1956 in Porvenir Coachilla, Mexico. Maria survives him at their family home in Roswell.
Zeferino was a heavy equipment operator and worked for the State of New Mexico Highway Department. He enjoyed his vegetable garden and tending to his fruit trees.
Zeferino is survived by his seven sons and two daughters and their families: Joe Barraza and his wife, JoAnn, of Albuquerque and their children Lisa Barraza and Kristina Santillanes; Jesse Barraza and Lisa of Roswell and their children Jesse Ray, Desaray, and Adriana Barraza; Frank Jaramillo of Roswell and children Matthew Jaramillo, Isreal Herrera, Crystal and Priscilla Jaramillo; Alfred Jaramillo of Roswell and daughter, Yselia Jaramillo; Michael Jaramillo and wife, Vonnie, of Roswell and daughter, Autum Jaramillo; George Jaramillo and wife, Karen, of Roswell and children Ladonna Romero, Ashley Jaramillo, and George Jr.; Javier Jaramillo and wife, Felicia, of Albuquerque and children Marcus and Omar Jaramillo and Nicole Serna; Silvia Telles and husband, Joseph, of Bent, NM and children James Jr., Jose Luis, and John Gabriel Gurrola; Maria Maciel of Hewitt, TX and children Monica Jaramillo, Robert, Gilbert Jr., and Rebecca Romero; 14 great-grand children: Jose Luis Gurrola II, Lynnae Villarreal, Gabriela Gurrola, Clarissa Gurrola, Dominic Andazola, Mariah Andazola, Robert Romero, Jr., Mia Romero, Isiah Romero, Gilbert Romero III, Anstasia Romero, Izaiah Jaramillo, Johnathan Jaramillo, and Mya Serna-Gallegos; sister-in-law, Paulina Tavitas and nephew, Jose Luis Aguilar, both of San Antonio, TX.
Pallbearers will be Zeferinos sons: Joe, Jesse, Frank, Alfred, Michael, George, and Javier.
