Ysidro Garcia
A family said goodbye to one of the last of a generation that came to the United States in 1921 to make a new life. Ysidro Garcia passed away December 12, 2007 at his home. He is survived by his wife Edubijen Dica Garcia, three daughters, Rose Mary Odam, Gloria Dean, Josephine Campbell, six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In his early years he worked on a farm for Dr. Crile and later in construction when Roswell began to grow from a small community to a larger city. Ysidro became a United States citizen in 1940.
Ysidro Garcia loved his family, loved life, gardening and music. He will be remembered for his resourcefulness and sense of humor.
A rosary will be held Sunday, December 16, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church and a funeral mass will be on Monday, December 17, 2007 at 12:10 p.m. at Assumption Catholic Church. A burial of cremains will take place at South Park Cemetery following the service.
