Wyva Fifine McLaughlin

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007 at the Ballard Funeral Home Chapel for Wyva Fifine McLaughlin, 89, of Roswell who passed away September 10, 2007 in Roswell. Her grandson Reverend Stephen Ballew will officiate.

Wyva was born on March 26, 1918 in Paw Paw, Michigan to Leon Ebenezer Peacock and Ila Julia Chapman Peacock. Her parents preceded her in death.

On August 6, 1941 in Paw Paw, Michigan she married Charles Crosby McLaughlin. Her husband preceded her in death after 66 years of marriage during which he served in the Air Force, eventually retiring in Paw Paw, Michigan. Wyva and Charles moved to Roswell in 1987.

Wyva was a member of the womens auxiliaries of the Elks Club, the Lions Club, the American Legion and the VFW. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a great gardener.

She was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Julia Eloise Johnson of Casper, Wyoming.

Survivors include her sons: Cleon Crosby McLaughlin of Lavonia, Georgia and Calvin Crosby McLaughlin of Virginia Beach, VA; daughters: Lilla Belle Ballew of Clovis, NM and Alisa May Runyan of Kaiserslautern, Germany. She is also survived by nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
