Winston Quiggle, 89, semi-retired Roswell resident for a quarter of a century, passed away suddenly on August 13, 2007.
He was born in Blue Earth, Minnesota and distinguished himself as a gifted high school athlete with college intentions but World War II interrupted his ambitions. Enlisting in the US Army, he was an x-ray technician in North Africa, Italy, Sardinia and Corsica in large field hospitals.
Returning home in 1945, he joined his father as a used furniture and antique trader in Owatonna, Minnesota, a career which he avidly pursued throughout the rest of his life.
Quig and his wife Virginia, who preceded him in death in 1995, made their home in Boulder, Colorado since 1951, until moving to Roswell in 1981. He married Barbara Hepp in 1997.
Affectionately known as Quig he operated several home furnishings and used furniture businesses in Colorado, most recently as Quigs in South Roswell.
In his leisure, Mr. Quiggle was a local seniors horse shoe champion and was active in his local church.
Quig will be dearly missed by his friends and family who were recipients of his gentle disposition, dry wit, extra ordinary generosity and fairness. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, her sons, Craig and Ken Abalos, Nancy Lange of Haslett, Michigan, and Jeff Quiggle of Aurora, Colorado.
P A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 15, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at The Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2801 W. Fourth St., SPAN stylemso-ansi-la
