William Morris Woody

William Morris Woody, 79, Of Midway, passed away Thursday, April 19, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 9, 1933 to Paul and Bessie Woody. His parents preceded him in death.

William married Katherine F. King on June 2, 1952 and gained his beloved inlaws Henry and Martha King. They went on to have and raise five children. Nancy Christenson Chuck, Martha J. Meeks Richarddeceased, Ruth E. Leyba Tony, Mark Clayton Woody Gwen and John Henry Woody all of Roswell.

He was the eldest son of eleven children. Surviving siblings include: Pauline King, twin sister Doris Beasley, Jim Woody Charlotte, Chester Woody Bettie, Nellie Herrington Wayne, Bessie May Etchison Gene and Rose Buckner Charles.

Woody, as he was known by most, or Sonny by his family, was blessed with seven grandsons Kim, Jeremy, Kyle, Randy, Mikie, Jacob and Josh. And Ashley, who he considered his granddaughter. He was later blessed with fourteen greatgrandchildren that he dearly loved and enjoyed.

Dad served his country proudly in the Korean War. He was a great father, husband, grandfather, and friend. He never met a stranger and was always willing to share a joke and a smile. He was a avid hunter and fisherman and a jack of all trades.

Woody worked at Pollard Bus Company for over thirty years doing everything from driving the routes to mechanic work on the buses. Clarence Pollard was both a great boss and a dear friend.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife Katherine, fatherinlaw Henry King, elder sister Georgia Nichols, sister, Betty Kosloski and brother V.J. Woody.

A funeral service is scheduled for 11 am, Monday, April 23, 2012 at Church on the Move. Pastor Tim Aguilar will be officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. The family is gathering at 4405 N. Atkinson to receive condolences and guest.
