William “Bill” Earl Swann Jr

Bill Swann Jr went home to be with the Lord and the love of his life Evelyn on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 in the comfort of his home surround by his family and ones that loved him.

Bill was born the first of four children to William Swann Sr and Evelyn Swann on September 22, 1933 in Texas. Bill went on to marry the love of his life Evelyn Swann (Callaway) on December 13, 1955 in Albuquerque, NM, they were married for 64 years until she passed in April 2020. Together Bill and Evelyn owned and operated Swanns Transmission and the Christian Gift Center at 109 East McGaffey Street in Roswell, NM for over 30 years. Bill was a great man, he loved all his family dearly, especially his great grandchildren, they were always the highlight of his day.

Bill was very close to all his family, but his son-in-law Jesse Silva was his best friend, his homie. Jesse spent all his time taking care of Bill over the last few years. There were good days and there were bad days and Jesse was by Bill’s side the entire time. Jesse made sure he fulfilled all of Bill’s final wishes. Two of Bill’s favorite things to do was show off his garden that Jesse planted for him this year and when Jesse would take him to appointments and then take him to get a burrito and for a nice cruise while he was still able to get out.

Left behind to cherish Bill’s memory are his daughters Michele Silva and husband Jesse, Vickie Niec and husband Bob; son William Swann III and wife Ranae. Nine grandchildren Shane Willis Jr, Khristian Silva, Haley Silva, Kaylea Silva, Jeremiah Niec, Michelle Saul, William Swann IV, Audrey Swann, and Amanda Swann. Nine great grandchildren Connor Silva, Kayson Johnson-Silva, Maleynigh Silva-Cruz, Jacob Swann, Austin Swann, Landyn Swann, Elijah Swann, Eva Swann, William Swann V.; brother Jimmy Ray Swann; sisters-in-law Betty Bush (Mike), Glenda Barrow, Sue Vansickle, Doris Callaway and Brenda Callaway; brothers-in-law Joe Callaway (Frances) and Danny Callaway as well as many beloved nieces and nephews

Preceding Bill in death is his beautiful wife Evelyn Swann; his parents William Sr. and Evelyn Swann; father and mother-in-law Jack and Pluma Callaway; brother Gordon Swann; his grandchildren Jessica Niec and Mere Contreras; sisters-in-law Shirley Sears Kidder, Kathy Callaway and Janie Callaway, and brothers-in-law Bill Callaway, Jerry Callaway, Wes Barrow, Jim Callaway, Jim Vansickle, Steve Kidder, Steve Andres and Don Sears.

Jesse and Michele would like to give a special thanks to Khristian Silva, Haley Silva, Michele Saul, Jeremiah Niec, Bob and Vickie Niec for everything they’ve done to help take care of grandpa these last few years.

Michele and Vickie would like to give a special thanks to all the friends and family for all their love, support and help with Bill over the last 10 years. We’re grateful for everything you guys have done to help us, and we love you all very much.

Bill will be dearly missed.

A joint memorial service will be held for both Bill and Evelyn Swann on Thursday, June 3, 2021 at 11am at Christ’s Church in Roswell, NM.

A private burial will take place at a later date.
