A graveside service is scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 20, 2010 at South Park Cemetery for William Morrison, 83 of Roswell who passed away May 17, 2010 at a local care center. Rev. Robert Maples will officiate. William will lie in state Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at Ballard Funeral Home from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
William was born on April 11, 1927 in Roswell, NM to Roy Morrison and Edna Peek Morrison. His parents have preceded him in death.
William married Betty Shoemaker on November 1, 1947. She preceded him in death in 1989.
William is survived by his two daughters: Ann Burns and husband Dwight of Roswell and Becky Ridlon of Lubbock, TX his grandson: Ricky Burns of Roswell his granddaughters: Brandi Burns of Reno, NV, Summer Ridlon and Candi Ridlon of Lubbock, TX and three great grandchildren: J.T., Julieann, and Shaylynn of Lubbock, TX one sister: Peggy Coleman of Hobbs, NM his sisters in law: Nita Shoemaker of Amarillo, TX and Jean Harrison of Roswell as well as many nieces and nephews.
William served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a life long resident of Roswell and worked as a Pattern Designer for Tesco Sign Company and retired after 45 years of service. William was also a member of the VFW.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the care givers at Mission Arch Care Center for their love and care to Mr. Morrison during his time as a resident.
