Walter Staton Dollahon
A funeral service will be held 10:30 am, Thursday, February 12, 2009 at the 1st Presbyterian Church for Walter Staton Dollahon, 50 of Roswell passed away on February 8, 2009 at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Walter will lie in state at the Ballard Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 11, 2009 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Private family burial will take place prior to services at South Park Cemetery. Officiating will be Dr. Hugh Burroughs of First Presbyterian Church of Roswell and Rev. Winston Presnall.
Walter was born on February 22, 1958 in Roswell, NM to Paul Dollahon and Joyce Wooldridge Dollahon. Both parents reside in Roswell.
On August 9, 1980 Walter married Lisa Neher in Dallas, Texas. She survives him at the family home.
Walter graduated from Texas Tech in 1980. He was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and was currently a
ision commander of Sigma Nu. Walter worked as a Managing Realtor for Prudential Grieves Group Realtors. He was a Board Member of the Roswell Board of Realtors, Member of the Southeastern New Mexico Historical Foundation, past member of Casa Board, Roswell City Councilman 1982-1984, and ran for State Legislature in 1984. Walter was an Elder of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Roswell. He loved New Mexico and was a tremendous humorist and historian.
He was a loving husband and dad, survived by his sons: Chip Dollahon and fiance Leah of Dallas, TX and Price Dollahon of Roswell and daughter: Katie Dollahon of Roswell other survivors ; brothers, Gary Dollahon and wife Donna of Broken Arrow, OK; niece: Crystal Dollahon of Jenks, OK; and nephew: B.J. Dollahon and wife Jenni of Dallas, TX; sister, Diane and husband Dr. Fred French of Roswell; nephews: Dr. Flip French and wife Christina of Jacksonville, FL; Tad French and wife Lori of Austin, TX; and Lt. Mickey French of Pensacola, Fl.; and niece: Emily French of Las Cruces, NM.
Honorary pallbearers will be John Grieves, Clark Elliott, Gary Dollahon, Tad French, Mickey French, and B.J. Dollahon, Dr. Fred French, Dr. Flip French, The Roswell Board of Realtors, Brothers of Sigma Nu Fraternity, the Tips Club and his many friends.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Southeastern New Mexico Historical Foundation or Valley Christian Academy or ones favorite charity.
