V.R. Barnett
Private family services will be held for V.R. Barnett, 88, of Roswell who passed away February22, 2009 at his home.
V.R. was born on April 26, 1920 in Hagerman, New Mexico to Levi Barnett and Lottie Ratliff Barnett. His parents have preceded him in death.
V.R. was from a Pioneer Hagerman Family who farmed in The Pecos Valley and in Hagerman for over 50 years. V.R. served on the Hagerman School Board and the Hagerman Canal Board. He also served on the Board at the Security National Bank, as well as the Hagerman Gin Co-op Board. He was appointed to the Farmers Home Administration Board and He was also Deacon at First Baptist Church in Hagerman, he Owned and operated Barnett Feed Yard, in Hagerman and Ranched in the Datil NM Area. He later opened Barnett Industries, an Auto and Industrial Supply Business in Hagerman.
V.R. was a member of the special order called the Friends of Liberty of Liberty Baptist College in Lynchburg, VA of which Jerry Falwell was Chancellor.
V.R. is survived by his children, Kaye, Karolyn, John, 11 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, 4 great, great grandchildren.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Badine, Dr. Mark, Dr. Newman, nurses, Lori, Kate, Phil and Pattie as well as Jackie, Juanita, Glenn, Lula and Karen all of the Cancer Center. The family would also like to give a special thank you to Dr. David Johnson of Albuquerque.
The family would like memorials to be made in V.Rs name to New Mexico Christian Childrens Home, West Star Route, Box 48, Portales, NM 88130, or In Touch Ministries, Dr. Charles Stanley, P.O. Box 7900, Atlanta, Georgia, 30357-9979 or the charity of ones choice.
