Viola May Chester

On September 24, 2011 twelve days after celebrating her 80th birthday, my mother moved out of Casa Maria and went to live with her heavenly father. She was greeted by many relatives and friends. Viola loved her family, art, nature, the Air Force and nursing. She worked at St Marys Hospital for many years and retired from The Eastern NM Medical Center. On her shift, her patients were well cared for. While she was a doting mother, she reluctantly gave me wings to fly and encouraged me to find my purpose in life. She taught me to pray and find God and the good in all things. This has turned out to be her best gift to me.

At her request, there will not be a funeral service or viewing. A gathering for those who loved her will be held at South Park Cemetery at 10:00am on Friday, September 30, 2011. Chaplin Cecil Kimberlin will give a spiritual message.
