Vincent Aguilar

January 22, 1934 — October 8, 2016

Vincent Almanza Aguilar, age 82, passed away at ENMMC surrounded by his loved ones on October 8, 2016. He was born on January 22, 1934 in Roswell, NM to Ejinio and Concha Aguilar. He married the love of his life Isabel Aragon on October 19, 1953 and they shared 62 wonderful years together. Vincent was a veteran of the Korean War and was attached to the 25th Tropic Infantry Artillery Division in Korea. He spent his first year of service in the National Guard, the next three years in the army, and his final two years of commitment in the National Guard. Vincent spent many years in healthcare in the purchasing department. Starting with Saint Mary's Medical Center and finally retiring from Eastern New Mexico Medical Center.

Vincent was a long time member of Saint John's Men's Club and loved to volunteer at the annual church booth at the Eastern New Mexico State fair. He could often be found taking your order or making sure that you were happy with what the church was serving that evening. He was a long time Boy Scout leader and Church Usher. He would and has always been a strong supporter of our US Military forces. A proud Korean War Conflict veteran he could always be seen around town wearing his Korean Veteran cap. Veterans Day and Federal Holidays were always his chance to be thankful for our great country and show his unwavering support for our flag.

Vincent was classic man who was caring, kind, religious, sincere, prideful, and family oriented. He loved to take his wife dancing; he enjoyed watching western movies (especially John Wayne), playing cards with his grandchildren, and going to the VFW and Knights of Columbus where he spent time with friends. He also enjoyed working at the flea market, and listening to Spanish music. He enjoyed going to church with his wife and his daughter Cindy and her family. Holidays were his favorite time of year especially with all his children and grandchildren around to spend time in their home. His memory will live in so many friends' hearts that it would be impossible to recognize all of these friends in this short history of a great man gone too soon. He will be deeply missed.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Ejinio and Concha Aguilar, brothers: Edward, Gene and Frank Aguilar, sisters: Concha Larez and Amelia Fabila and his son Vincent Aguilar Jr.
