Veta LaRue Vaughn

Veta LaRue Vaughn, 87, of Dexter New Mexico, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. Veta was born in Pittsburg, Oklahoma on June 8, 1936, to her father John T. Burns, and her mother Rutonse Walker.

Veta was a faithful member of Dexter Church of Christ. On Veta’s free time, she loved working in the yard as well as helping others. Veta absolutely loved fishing and hunting with her late husband Vernon, and her other family members.

Veta is preceded in death by her husband Vernon; son Robert; parents John and Rutonse Burns; siblings Virgil Burns, Bob Burns, Jim Burns, Royce Burns, Willora Bryant and Neta Burns.

Veta lives on in the memories of her sister, Sue Arnold of Capitan, NM. Also, her grandchildren, Bobby Vaughn of Parker, CO, Justin Vaughn of Beaufort, SC, and Keri Vaughn of Roswell, NM, as well as her 4 great- grandchildren.

A visitation for Veta is scheduled for Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 2:00pm-6:00pm at Ballard Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held for Veta the following day at 3:00pm, on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at South Park Cemetery.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to everyone at the Mission Arch Care Center in Roswell, NM, for their care and treatment of Veta during their time spent with her.
