Vera DiNapoli Mein-Taormina
Vera DiNapoli Mein-Taormina, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 21, 2024.
Vera went to be with our beloved Lord early Saturday morning, surrounded by her children. She was born December 25, 1938 in Roswell, New Mexico and raised by John and Mary Anderson. Vera was wife to Henry Mein, whom she met in New York and spent 44 loving years with. After 20 years apart, the two have joined and are dancing together again. They share four children, Shirley Aguilar, Ruth Silva (Annie), Angela Martinez, and Hank Mein (Grasshopper). Vera lovingly raised Rosalie and Michael Taromina as her own. Vera was a devout Catholic, and attended St. Peter’s Parish Church. She often visited the Poor Claire’s Monastery and helped all the came into her life. During her life in Roswell, she had many different jobs but was always known for her buttercream wedding cakes, something she enjoyed doing for all her friends and family. Harvesting pecans, peeling chile, and putting up Christmas décor were some of her favorite things to do with her family. Wherever Vera went she was accompanied by her four loving dogs: Whitey, Kelly, Daisy (her protector), and Cindy. She will be remembered by her grandchildren for taking them to the Cahoon pool during the summers, making their favorite Christmas cookies, and her witty jokes. Most of all she enjoyed her time at the Casino, win or lose, with her daughter Annie, looking for “good deals” at estate and garage sales with her daughter Shirley. Visits, laughing and many conversations with her daughter Angela and ringing the bell for her son Hank. Vera was a dear friend to many but had a special friendship with Cecilia Johnson, Sandra Alvarez, and Alice Martinez, who she cherished deeply.
Vera is survived by her children Shirley, Ruth, Angela, and Hank; seven grandchildren: Oscar Silva, Thomas Mein, James Silva, Alex Mein, Kevin Mein, Brittany Martinez, and Shelbi Aguilar; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; Brother and Sister: Michael DiNapoli and Deb Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved greatly.
Honorary pallbearers are her beloved family and friends. Vera will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved her but especially by her family.
A special thanks to Enhabit Palliative/Home Health Care nurses Rebecca and Irene. Dr. Ferraro of Artesia, New Mexico. As well as Sandra Alvarez, known as her partner in crime. This tribute was written in Vera’s honor by her loving great-granddaughter.
