A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held for Vancil Ray Fowler, on Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Community Church, Roswell Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Services. Vance, 88, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2013. He was born in the Meridian Store near Sweetwater, Oklahoma in 1925. Vance was a long time Roswell resident and was a small business owner, oil field worker, potash miner and a farmer in his life. He served proudly in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. He was one of the most kind, genuine and generous of men. He was a devoted father and papa. Vance was an active member of Grace Community Church and a member of American Legion, the Senior Circle and an avid square dancer with the Enchanted Squares Organization. He was preceded in death by his son Jeston David Fowler and his siblings Ruby Wilson, Alma Kenmore, A.W. Fowler and Jim Hi Goodwin. Vance is survived his children Linda R. Fowler of Lovington, NM and Dr. Jason Vance Fowler and wife Brooke of Nuevo, CA and stepchildren Kandy Price of Amarillo, TX and Rick Hernandez of Lake City, CO, former wife June Fowler of Roswell, NM and daughter in law Lourdes Fowler of Anson, TX, his brothers P.O. Goodwin of Big Lake, TX, John Goodwin of Dimmitt, TX, Gene Goodwin of Abilene, TX and his sisters Faye Sutton of Woodward, OK and Flo Ardrey of Mannford, OK, and his grandchildren Jennifer Fowler, Avery Fowler, Dante Fowler and Devyn Fowler and soon to be greatgrandchild Jack Vance Fowler. Vance will be laid to rest in the Mulberry Cemetery in Sweetwater, Oklahoma at a later date.
