Van Brooks Davis
A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 17, 2007, at Memory Lawn Memorial Park for Van Davis, 82, of Roswell, who passed away March 13, 2007, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Rev. Robert Talley of St. Andrews Episcopal Church will officiate.
Van was born on September 22, 1924 in Pottsville, Arkansas to Evan and Bertha Henry Davis. Both parents preceded him in death as well as one brother and one sister.
Van married Haley Johnston in November of 1947 in Boonville, Arkansas. She survives him in Roswell.
He is also survived by his brother: Bernie Davis of Temple, Texas; his sisters: Juanita Needham and Colleen Morse both of New Blaine, Arkansas, Betty Sue Wilson of Florida, Anita Smith and husband Bill of Roswell, New Mexico and Jean Hooper and husband Ed of Hobbs, New Mexico; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Van has lived in Roswell for 58 years. He worked as a transport driver for Ray Bell Oil Company for 25 years. He served in the US Navy and was a WWII veteran. He was of the Baptist faith.
