Tressie Huff McCullough
Tressie stepped into eternity on April 15, 2021. She was born to Jesse Huff and Effie Ann McBeen on a snowy night January 16th in the 20th century in the little town Dustin in southeast Oklahoma and was welcomed by a proud father, happy mother and a sister Lois.
She is survived by her one son Tom McCullough of Phoenix, AZ; two daughters Glynis Ely of Glendale, AZ and Suzanne Diffee and husband Enick of Roswell, NM; grandsons Thomas McCullough of Phoenix, AZ, Michael Ely and wife Penny of Phoenix, AZ, Paul Diffee and wife Alexa of Wilmington, NC and Ryan McCullough of Medellin, Columbia; granddaughters Jaci Bennett and husband Michael of Mansfield, OH and Kristin Bennett of Seattle, WA and great grandchildren Joey Bennett, Kendra Bennett and Cameron Bennett.
Tressie was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Effie Huff; husband O.C. McCullough; sisters Lois Crutchfield and Blondell Johnson; son Flint McCullough and son-in-law Jack Ely.
A graduate of Eastern New Mexico University at Portales earning BA and MA degrees, with further study in early childhood development at NMSU, Las Cruces. Tressie was classroom teacher in RISD for twenty-five years.
She loved life and lived it well and encourage all who knew her to do the same. All will miss her sense of humor and her constant positive attitude. She never met a stranger and loved people, especially children of all ages and animals. Her joys in life included being with family, artistic pursuits, reading, traveling and intellectual and heartfelt discussions.
Mother: The love you have shown us, your children, is too great to measure. We love you.
Tressie’s family wishes to thank the staff of Avamere and Encompass Hospice for the loving care they provided.
A memorial service celebrating the life Tressie Huff McCullough will be held after the COVID pandemic. Harry Tackett of the West Alameda Church of Christ will officiate.
