Toni "Mickey" Moore-Payton daughter of the late Shirley Wheeler and Bobby Gates Hall was born on July 16, 1961 in Roswell, New Mexico. Heaven got it a character on the early morning of January 24, 2015, when she was gently lifted home after a lengthy valiant hard-fought struggle surrounded by friendly staff members at the Windsor HealthCare Residence in Groesbeck, Texas. Mickey was 53.
Waiting to welcome her to the Heavenly Father's arms are her parents, maternal grandmother Jessie Lawrence, step-father Samuel Wheeler and her favorite aunt Charlotte Jefferson.
Mickey spent most of her early childhood and school years between Roswell, New Mexico and Clovis, New Mexico. She loved taking care of people and was employed most of her working career as a nursing assistant or home health aide. She moved around in New Mexico, Denver, Baltimore and several cities in Texas. She never met a stranger. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking and spending time with her friends, family and grandchildren. Even after surviving a stroke in 2007, she was a happy and tried to be helpful. She was passionate about the children and spoiled her great-nieces. When she was well, she took care and feed the children and even grown folks in her neighborhood that were less fortunate. She was a charmer and could charm you right out of your clothes. He laugh could light up a room.
While in Clovis, she usually attended First Church of God In Christ. After a few years at St. Anthony Health Care, she was moved to the Windsor Nursing home in Groesbeck in 2010. She wheeled around and made people laugh until the end. She was a member of the Lone Star Baptist Church in Groesbeck, TX.
