Tommy Tom L. Powell, 74, of Hagerman passed away January 3, 2010 at his home in Hagerman surrounded by his family.
Tom was born in Alamogordo, New Mexico on June 30, 1935, to Louis and Bobbie Powell. Tom married Robbie Jo Gant, August 5, 1977 in Hagerman and survives him at the family home. In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his four children: Walter, and his wife Susan of Roswell Dave of Tempe, Arizona Steve, and his wife Dana of Hagerman and Debbie Trujillo, and her husband Homer of Roswell. Survivors also include brothers, Bob and wife Laurel of Luther, Oklahoma and Donny and wife Susan of Artesia. Two sisters, Joy Tenorio of McLeansboro, Illinois and Carolyn Russell and husband Charlie of Midland, Texas, seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephew. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Dolores Lea Powell.
Tom was a farmer and raised and bred registered Angus cattle in Hagerman with his wife Robbie.
Graveside services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the Hagerman Cemetery, Hagerman, NM with Pastor Wayne Brazil officiating and Pastor Walt Isaacs assisting. Pallbearers will be: Devin Trujillo, Tommy Powell, Shane Huffaker, Clay Powell, Sam Russell and Ernie Ordonez. Honorary Pallbearers will be Barney Green, Bill Pollard, Warren Miles, Jim Bob Miles, Jim Pilley, Nate Smith, Quentin Dean, Jimmy Dean, Donald Dean, Alton Munson and Dick Brown.
