Roswell lost a fine man when Tim Amos Sr. lost his battle with cancer and passed away Saturday morning June 28, 2014.
Tim was born in Sulfur Springs, Texas on December 20, 1941 to Travis Winfred and Dorothy Lorene Amos. He was one of ten children that all worked together as a ranching family, and gave glory to God for what they had. Tim is survived by his wife Georgia Dolly Amos whom still resides in the family home. He was a loving father to five children, Lori Coltharp and her husband Kenny of Texas, Danny Sedelmeyer and his wife Lisa of California, Sonjia Breeden and her husband Johnny of Texas, Tim Amos Jr. and his wife Gina of Roswell, NM sisters Patsy Chrisman of Roswell and Sharon Smith of Kansas. He had numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren who were the light of his life. Especially Susans baby Lauren Amos whom he and his wife adopted and raised until she was 7 years old after his daughters untimely death.
Tim was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Anne Amos of Roswell who passed away on April 26, 2003 and seven of his siblings, brothers Aubrey Earl Amos of Sacramento, Charles Amos of Clovis, Tommy Amos of Hobbs sisters Bobby Smith of Roswell, Susie Zachnewski of Roswell, Sonjia Baxley of South Carolina and Barbara Johnson of Roswell.
Tim was a grocery clerk for many years and a member of local UFCW grocery workers union. After he retired he became a local collectable and antique dealer and loved going to garage sales and auctions. He had his own store in Monterey Flea Markets and later opened another store with his son in Roswell called Amos Refindery.
Tim was an avid fisherman and hunter and loved being in the outdoors with his family and friends. He loved to ride motorcycles with his wife Dolly and was always a part of toy runs and charity events as he loved to give back to others. Tim had a soft heart for animals and a stray dog or cat never went hungry if they past his home.
Tim will be dearly missed by all that knew him and his spirit lives on in our hearts.
