Terry D. Winkler
Terry D. Winkler passed away early Saturday morning, January 13, 2007 in Lubbock, Texas after a courageous battle with cancer. Terry was a beloved husband to his wife Lori and father to his son Dusty.
Terry will be honored with a Celebration of Life memorial service this Saturday, January 20, 2007 in Roswell, New Mexico beginning at 2 P.M. at the First Baptist Church at 500 N. Pennsylvania Avenue.
Terry was born on December 30, 1953 in Matador, Texas to L.C. and Mary Lou Winkler. He was raised in Dickens County and attended and graduated from Patton Springs in 1972.
Terrys professional career as a livestock feed salesman began with Moormans Manufacturing Company. After retiring in 2004, he began employment with Standard Nutrition Company out of Omaha, Nebraska, which he worked for until his death.
Terry married Lori Cooper on February 12, 1983 in Lubbock, Texas. They made their home in Roswell, New Mexico. Terry was a recognized leader in the 4-H and FFA community in the Chaves County area for 18 years. Terry received numerous awards from various organizations and groups including the memorable Amigo Award from the New Mexico Wool Growers Association in April of 2006. He was also a member of New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and First Baptist Church in Roswell.
Terry is survived by his wife Lori Cooper Winkler and son Dusty Winkler. He is also survived by his mother, Mary Lou Winkler of Dickens, Texas; his brother Larry Winkler Paula of White River, Texas; sister-in-law Jan Cooper White Mike of Ladonia, Texas; sister-in-law Jeri Chapman Larry of Muleshoe, Texas; five nieces and nephews; and three great-nephews.
Terry was preceded in death by his father, L.C. Winkler and son Scotty Winkler.
Terrys utmost dream was for his son, Dusty, to finish his college education. So in lieu of flowers, Terry requested contributions be made to Winkler Education Fund in care of Paul Taylor, III, P.O. Box 940, Roswell, NM 88202, or to your local 4-H or FFA.
