Sue Tarter

Sue Tarter, a cherished wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 17th, 2024. Born on September 12th, 1956, in Borger, Texas, Sue's vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Gladys and Richard Miller, and her sister-in-law Tamara Fresquez. Sue attended Borger High School before pursuing higher education at ENMU Portales and Grand Canyon University.

Sue met her beloved husband, Curt Tarter, in Abilene, Texas, and they shared 46 beautiful years together, celebrating their union on August 5th, 1978. Together, they built a loving home in Roswell, NM, where they resided for 37 years.

Sue's legacy lives on through her devoted family, including her daughter Tashina Lilley and her husband Tim Lilley, along with their cherished sons Lucas and Henry Lilley. She is also survived by her son Dylan Tarter, the love of his life Jessica Lewis, her brother Jay Miller, and his wife Shelley Miller and their family, her mother-in-law Mary Beth Tarter, her sister-in-law Dorothy Tarter, her brother-in-law’s Steve Tarter and Ken Fresquez, and her nieces Alexandra and Elizabeth Fresquez. Sue's compassionate nature extended even to her beloved pets, Layla and Roxy, who brought her immense joy.

Sue had a zest for life and found joy in many pursuits, especially her favorite things: art, cooking, and technology. Her creative spirit flourished in her artwork, which brought beauty and inspiration to those around her. In the kitchen, she delighted in preparing meals for her loved ones, infusing each dish with love and care. Sue also embraced technology, eagerly exploring its possibilities and staying connected with family and friends near and far.
 The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Inhabit Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Sue's final days. Their dedication and kindness provided comfort and solace during a challenging time. Additionally, they would like to thank Casa Maria for their assistance and support during this difficult period.

As a dedicated teacher at Sierra Middle School, and the Creative Learning Center, Sue inspired countless minds and hearts throughout her career. Her passion for art and creativity shone brightly, leaving a lasting impact on all who encountered her work. Alongside her roles as an educator and artist, Sue was a proud business owner, embodying resilience, and entrepreneurship.

Sue's warm smile, gentle spirit, and boundless love will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Though she may be physically absent, her legacy of kindness, creativity, and curiosity will continue to illuminate the lives of those she touched.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cowboy bell scholarship at the Methodist church, in honor of Sue's compassionate spirit and dedication to making the world a better place.

Memorial services will be at held at First United Methodist Church on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at 10:00 AM.
