Steven Fairfield, 73, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on Sunday, February 24, 2019. Steve was born in Brooklyn, NY on June 9, 1945 to Oscar J. Fairfield and Theresa Margaret Giangiobbe Fairfield. He followed his father to New Mexico when he was young.
Steve worked at Valley Glass in his younger years and later worked for the Roswell Independent School District until he retired. Anyone who knew Steve would tell you that he loved his family, his cars were his passion, he cared about any work he was doing, and he loved his dog, Dakota. After the passing of his wife, Darlene Fairfield, his dog became his best friend (his baby). He was a Ford man and loved working on his cars. He worked on and rebuilt many.
He has left behind his son Jason D. Fairfield and wife Traci Fairfield of Roswell and a daughter, Theresa L. (Lori) Mitchell of Albuquerque. He was extremely close to his sister, Linda Cole and husband Ben Cole. He was also survived by his brother, David Fairfield of Roswell, and his sister, Donna Wilson and her husband Mike Wilson of Dallas, TX. He had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, Dylan Fairfield, Cameron Fairfield, and (honorary) Tovian Shepherd. Beth Cole and Oscar (Chip) Cole were very close to him as well as his niece and nephew. He also left behind many other nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his step-son, David McClure and survived by his wife Mary McClure. He will truly be missed by many.
A memorial service will be held at Ballard Funeral Home on Saturday, March 9 at 11:00 am. Anyone who would like to attend, please come join us to celebrate Steve's life.
