Silvia Esquivel

March 11, 1946 — July 23, 2020

Our beloved mother and grandmother, Silvia Esquivel, went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2020. She was born in Dinamita, Durango Mexico on March 11, 1946, to Tomas and Inocencia Salas. She was married to the love of her life Ruben for 52 years. Together, they raised four children: Ruben Esquivel Jr, Cristina Antenucci (Mark), Diana Carrasco (Pilar), and Erika Martinez.

Silvia immigrated to Roswell NM and worked for Longhorn Manufacturing Company in the late 70s and early 80s. She also worked and volunteered in various church activities at St. John’s Catholic Church. Silvia loved and cherished her grandchildren; Miriana, Justin, Isabella, Illiana, Xai, and Abbygael. They were her pride and joy, and she enjoyed watching them grow up and become accomplished young adults. She loved spending time with her husband and enjoyed cooking and gardening; she loved flowers. Silvia’s favorite holiday was Christmas, and she was known to set up a nativity scene that took up half of the living room. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Silvia was recently preceded in death by her loving husband Ruben, her parents, two infant daughters, siblings: Blanca, Abigail, René; sisters-in-law: Josefina Esquivel and Micaela Salas, and son-in-law Christopher Martinez.

Those left to cherish her memory are her children, grandchildren, her sisters: Petra and Elva, her brothers: Tomas and Alejandro along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Encompass Hospice, especially Elvira, Leslie, Jimmie, and Amber. A special thank you to her caregiver Juana “Juanita” Carabajal.

The Holy Rosary will be recited on Tuesday, July 28th at 1:30 pm followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 pm at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Those serving as pallbearers are Mark Antenucci, Pilar Carrasco, Justin Carrasco, Xai Carrasco, Angel Esquivel, and Jose Silva. Honorary pallbearers will be Miriana Antenucci, Isabella Antenucci, Illiana Esquivel, Abbygael Martinez, George Esquivel, Lorenzo Esquivel Sr, Lorenzo Esquivel Jr, Albert Esquivel, and Liliana Roman.
