The Farmer
Without delay hes up each day before the crack of dawn.
He ponders and plans the day.
Theres livestock to feed and fences to mend, till the soil and plant the seed.
Breakfast and a kind word for his wife and children, hes out the door.
This is what hes called to do as steward of Gods good Earth.
Like his father and fathers before, twas passed to him by birth.
He finds great satisfaction in his workthe fields of alfalfa and cotton, a loving wife
for over 60 years and children making their way in the world.
The sun has set and hes earned the right to rest under the shade of the old elm tree.
