Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 3, 2011 at Ballard Chapel for Sharnene Brooks who passed away early Monday morning on January 31, 2011 at the age of 63, at Eastern New Mexico Medical Center. Pastor Terry Warner of New Covenant Fellowship Church of God will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.
Sharnene was born August 26, 1947 in Houston, Texas to Tommy Barnes and Bootsie Kitchen Barnes. Her father Tommy and stepfather Jack Jackson preceded her death. She married Glenn E. Brooks on February 29, 1981while living in Las Vegas, he survives her in the family home in Roswell.
Also surviving her are her mother, Bootsie from Houston her daughters, Tammy Cook, Deanna Black of Houston and Cheryl Bear of Roswell and Darlene Wells of Houston her sons, Shannon Cook of Houston, Darrell Cook of Centerville, TX, Brian Brooks of Roswell and Daniel Brooks of Warren, OK, eleven grandchildren two great grandchildren her sisters, Brenda Mayenburg, Sandra Flores, Brenda Deavers and Becky Barnes her brothers, Tommy and Bill Barnes all of Houston, TX. Also surviving are her mother and fatherinlaw, Ruth and Hubert Brooks of Roswell, numerous relatives and friends from Texas, New Mexico and Las Vegas, NV.
Sharnene lived in the Houston area and later in life moved to Las Vegas, NV. Sharnene was a Christian woman whom believed in our God and Jesus Christ and will be remembered always.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Cook, Brian Brooks, Daniel Brooks and Shannon Cook.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made in memory of Sharnene to Covenant Fellowship Church of God, 2200 N. Garden, Roswell, NM 88201.
