Sarah Silva Chavez
A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Thursday, August 12, 2010 at St. Johns Catholic Church for Sarah Silva Chavez, 85, of Roswell who passed away August 10, 2010, at Mission Arch Care Center. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 13, 2010 at St. Johns Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Memory Lawn Memorial Park.
Sarah was born on January 19, 1925 to Eustaquio Silva and Nestora Sigala in Picacho, NM. Her parents have preceded her in death, as well as her husband Esequiel H. Chavez, daughter, Lorene Chavez, son, Charles Chavez, two brothers, Augustin Silva and Eustaquio Silva Jr., two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Silva and Mary Elizabeth Prudencio.
Sarah is survived by her sons: Walter Roy Chavez of Arabela, NM, Esequiel Chavez and wife Petra of Roswell, Seferino Chavez and wife Gloria of Roswell, and Alfred Chavez of Roswell, daughters: Nadine Chavez and husband Jose of Denver, CO, Jane Campos and husband Tito of Roswell, Beatrice Dominguez and husband Ever of Denver, CO, and Corene Avent and husband Jr of Roswell, and Estella Tarin and husband Raul of Dexter, NM, brother: Albert E. Silva of Roswell, sisters: Adelina Pino of Tularosa, NM, Juanita S. Esquibel of Roswell, Martina Bartlett of Holman, NM, Rufina Wilton of Denver, CO, Ernestina Huizar of Las Cruces, NM and Hope Carrion of Santa Fe, NM, thirtythree grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and greatgreat grandchildren.
Sarah was a lifelong resident of Roswell. She was of the catholic faith and a member of St. Johns Catholic Church. In the past Sarah was a member of the Guadalupanas at St. Johns. Sarah loved to dance. and was a Grandma at Roswell Head Start Program.
Pallbearers will be, Tito J. Campos, Pete Tarin, Michael J. Chavez, Walter Chavez, and Nathan Vigil. Honorary pallbearers will be Ervin Salcido, David Salcido and Joe Montoya.
