Sara Montez Lopez

A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dexter for Sara Montez Lopez, 83 of Dexter who passed away December 22, 2007 at a local care center. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 27, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dexter. Deacon Jesus Herrera of St. Johns Catholic Church will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Sara was born on August 20, 1934 in Presidio, Texas to Fernando Montez and Catalina Alvarado Montez. Her parents have preceded her in death as well as five brothers and three sisters.

Sara married Manuel Lopez on February 18, 1952 in Roswell, NM. Her husband survives her at the family home.

Sara is also survived by her son: David Lopez of Roswell, NM; her daughters: Sandy Medrano of Hagerman, Cynthia Lopez of Dexter, and Sulema Lopez of Dexter; her brothers Catarino Montez of California; her sisters: Anastacia Lucero of Roswell and Luisa Alvarez of Artesia; eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Sara was of the catholic faith and was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dexter. Sara enjoyed to cook and sew.

Pallbearers will be Gabriel Medrano, Adrian Medrano, Arnulfo Nevarez, Charlie Lucero and Tomas Montez Jr.
