Samuel Ortega Najar

A funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2009 at the Ballard Funeral Home Chapel for Samuel Ortega Najar, 60 of Roswell who passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 at his home. Adam Solis will officiate. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery with the Roswell Veterans Honor Guard providing a military graveside services. Family will receive friends at 209 S. Kansas following the service.

Samuel was born on June 10, 1949 to Susan Ortega Najar and Estanislao Najar.

Samuel married Adeline Hernandez On March 4, 1973. His wife survives him at the family home.

He is preceded in death by his brothers, David, Joe, Eloy, Tanis Jr. and Danny. As well as a sister, Lila.

Samuel is survived by his sons: Robert Hernandez and Michael Hernandez and wife Cruz; his daughters: Yvette De La Rosa and husband Raul, and Annette Najar; his grandchildren: Katrina De La Rosa, Samuel De La Rosa, and Dominique De La Rosa, Breanna Hernandez, Alyssa Hernandez, Robert Hernandez Jr., Marina Hernandez, Michael Hernandez Jr., Marianna Hernandez, David Guajaca and Joshua Guajaca; his brother: Pete Najar and wife Yolanda; his sisters: Bennie Beneivides and husband Andy, Francis Hines and husband Burl, Delfina Heinz and husband Leroy, and Estella Ochoa.

Samuel was a life long resident of Roswell. He served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. After he returned to Roswell he worked at Glovers for ten years and then at Fletchers for four years.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ruben Pineda, Irvin Murjillo, Ray Dean Stubblefield, Ray Salcido, Raymond Velasco and Savino Sanchez. Pallbearers will be Raul De La Rosa, Jorge Zamora, Micheal Hernandez, Robert Hernandez, Junior Benitez and Risa Hernandez.
