Sabina Medrano Cruz, known most as Mamo passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2008. Viewing will be at Ballard Funeral Home, 910 S. Main Street on Friday March 28, 2008 beginning at 9:00 AM. Rosary is scheduled at St. Johns Catholic Church, 506 S. Lincoln on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 7:00 PM. Funeral Mass is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2008 at 10:00 AM at St. Johns Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. The Cruz and Garcia families will receive family and friends at the Ave Maria Center, 401 E. Bland Street following the burial ceremony.

She was born in Presidio, Texas on March 24, 1915 to Jesus and Francisca Medrano. She lived in several places throughout her life, but settled in Roswell, New Mexico in the early 1960s. Sabina was an amazing and generous person who was very kind and took pleasure in watching her children and grandchildren grow. She thoroughly enjoyed helping people in any way that she could. Her passion were cooking, crocheting, traveling, gardening and above all spending time with her family whom she loved dearly.

She leaves behind her beloved husband of over 56 years, Antonio Cruz-Lopez; a daughter and son in law, Raul and Guadalupe Garcia of Roswell; a son and daughter in law, Albert and Martha Cruz of Roswell. Four grandchildren, Valerie M. Garcia Clark and husband Jeremy, Stephen A. Garcia, Erica Flores and husband Wesley, Angelica L. Cruz and partner Lizeth Chavez, one great grandchild, Gabrielle Marie Flores.

Her parents Jesus and Francisca Medrano preceded her in death along with one sister Luz Sanchez and five brothers Juan Sanchez, Jesus Medrano, Anacleto Medrano, Hijinio Medrano and Quilimaco Medrano. Sabina also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and family members who she truly loved.

Sabina was a remarkable mother, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, and will never be forgotten.

Pallbearers will be Orlando Vargas, Wesley Flores, Jeremy Clark, Israel Gomez, Arturo Gomez and Rene Ornelas.
