Ruth Elizabeth Cobean McPherson

Services were held Monday, June 30, 2008 for Ruth Elizabeth Cobean McPherson, 87, of Roswell, New Mexico, who passed away Friday, June 27, 2008.

Ruth was born June 6, 1921 to Warren Cobean and Minnie Wikfors Cobean. Although the Cobean family was among the early pioneers in southeastern New Mexico, because her fathers business interests took him and Minnie abroad, Ruth was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina and spent her childhood in Monterrey, Mexico. The family returned to Roswell when Ruth was 12, where she eventually, on June 28, 1941, married Leslie McPherson, who survives her at the family home. She is also survived by daughters Ruth Ann Speth and husband Otto and Alice Terrell and husband Tommy of Roswell, New Mexico; grandsons Eric Sizer and wife Gina and Jason Sizer of Denver, Colorado; great-grandchildren Ethan Sizer and Savannah Sizer; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Elyse Beckman and husband Todd of Ruidoso, New Mexico.

Working almost until the time of her passing, Ruth was Secretary-Treasurer of Cobean Stationery Company, Inc., but always referred to herself as the bookkeeper. In her earlier years she was an avid coin and stamp collector and gardener. Ruth was a member of First United Methodist Church of Roswell, her grandparents having been among its founding members. Ruth will certainly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
