Rufina Torrez Herrera

A rosary is scheduled for 1:00p.m., Monday, December 1, 2008 at St. Peters Catholic Church for Rufina Torrez Herrera, 68 of Roswell who passed away November 27, 2008 at her home. A memorial service is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 1, 2008 at St. Peters Catholic Church. She was cremated according to her wishes.

Rufina was born on August 22, 1940 in Picacho, NM to Antonio Torrez and Plajeres Montoya Torrez. Her parents have preceded her in death as well as one sister: Emma Brijalba.

Rufina is survived by her sons: Armando Lucero and Rachel of Roswell, George B. Herrera of Albuquerque, NM; her brothers: Lalo and Ramona Torrez of Artesia, NM, Rafael and Hope Torrez of Roswell, NM; her sisters: Dora Mendoza of Roswell, Martha Chavez of Roswell, Isabel and Dan Tavarez of Roswell, Orlidia and Art Vincent of Eagle Pass, TX; two grandchildren: Armando Dominic Lucero and Renee, Adelina T. Lucero ; and one great grandchild: Dominic Emilio Lucero, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Rufina was a life long resident of Roswell and of the Catholic faith. She was a member of PHI Thetta Cappa- UNM Class of 2003. She was a Spanish tutor, she enjoyed teaching and helping others acheive their academic goals.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 900 E. 23rd St. immediately after the service.
