Ruben Lucero

A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Friday, October 2, 2009 at St. Peters Catholic Church for Ruben Lucero, 89 of Dexter who passed away September 30, 2009 at Mission Arch Care Center. A funeral mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 3, 2009 at St. Peters Catholic Church. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Ruben was born on April 7, 1920 in Arabela, New Mexico to Miguel Lucero and Ane Lucero. His parents have preceded him in death as well as a son Bobby Lucero and a grandson, Richard Lucero.

Ruben is survived by his wife: Arcenia; his son: Joe Lucero and his wife Maria of Dexter; his daughters: Pat Holland and her husband Mel of Ruidoso and Annie Brady and her husband Louis of Roswell; his daughter in law: Cindi Lucero of Roswell; his sister: Eliser Mireles of Dexter; and his brother: Carlos Lucero and wife Tasha of Roswell; as well as nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Ruben lived in Dexter most of his life. He was an owner of a Grocery Store and Gas Station for 27 years. He also served on the town council and was a member of Immaculate Conception Church.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, his son Joe and his brother Carlos.
