Ruben Baiza

Ruben Louie Baiza, 54, passed away peacefully at South Side Regional Medical Center in Petersburg, Virginia surrounded by his children on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

Ruben was born on November 15, 1961 to Fermin and Emma Baiza in Roswell, NM. Ruben grew up in Roswell, NM and lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma where he married the love of his life, Ronchetta Jackson. Ruben was a graduate of Roswell High School and confessed Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age. Ruben worked his passion as a truck driver at Ryder Logistic out of Pensacola, FL. driving 18 wheelers from coast to coast for 20+ years.

Ruben is preceded in death by his father, Fermin R. Baiza, brother Richard (Huevo) Baiza, both paternal grandparents, Evaristo and Placida Baiza, maternal grandparents Pedro and Estrelia (Mary) Vigil.

Ruben is survived by his mother Emma Baiza of Roswell, NM, wife Ronchetta Jackson of Virginia, daughters Christina and husband Justin Ray, Leah Baiza, Jessica Baiza, Sarah Baiza of Virgina and Hannah Jackson of OK; sons, Samuel Baiza, David Jackson and John Jackson of VA, two grandchildren Katrina Ray of OK and Isaiah Jones of VA, two sisters Juanita Baiza and husband Rene Portillo and Misty Villa and husband Agustin (Chicali) Leon of Roswell, NM, Nieces Veronica Munoz and family of Odessa, TX, Crystal Villa and son of Roswell NM, Francisca (Kika) Aragon and Miriam Portillo of Roswell, NM. Nephews, Richard Villa and family of Roswell, NM, and Fermin Portillo of Roswell, NM. Ruben is greatly loved and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.

Viewing will be held at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 9 am to 5 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7 pm, Sunday, November 13, 2016 at Ballard Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 2 pm Monday, November 14, 2016 at St. Peters Catholic Church with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Lawrence Mathews, Keith Cheatem, Edward Vigil, Rene Portillo, Jerry Quintero, and Steven Mills. Honorary pallbearers will be Samuel Baiza, Richard Villa, Fermin Portillo, and John Jackson.
