Roy Carrol Frie
Roy Carrol Frie was born October 29, 1934 in Dexter, NM. He grew up in and around the Roswell area, and attended Roswell High School. Shortly after serving as a Marine during the Korean Conflict, Roy moved to California where he has been a resident ever since. His main line of work was Heating and Air until his retirement. Roy enjoyed reminiscing about days gone by and his life in New Mexico, where life was simpler and a whole day at the cinema only cost about a dollar.
Roy passed away January 5, 2009 after a long battle with Lewy Body Dementia. He was 74. In just the past few years, Roy was preceded in death by his stepfather Coyle Adrian McDonald and mother Mary Pearl McDonald, both residents of Roswell; his wife, Jacquelyn Bakken-Frie; and his sister, Shirley Bustamante of Hagerman.
He is survived by his daughter, Jory Hiller, son-in-law Phil Hiller, and granddaughter Darien Hiller of Washington; daughter Laine Mackey, son-in-law Joe Mackey, grandson Kei Mackey, and granddaughter Lilea Mackey of California; and son Chad Frie of California.
Services were private, and Roy was laid to rest at South Park Cemetery alongside numerous members of his family.
