Ross Howard Sykes was born on August 6, 1939 in Winfield, Kansas to Emmit and Dorothy Taylor Sykes. Ross was known for his giving heart and for the deep love he felt for his family and friends. He met the love of his life Marva Jane Aston and they spent the last 52 years making each other laugh. Ross was in the Air Force when he met Marva after serving he worked at different jobs all over the southwest and found his way to Everett, Washington where he was proud to build airplanes for the Boeing Company. He retired in 1995 and he and Marva moved back to Roswell. He was the guy who could fix anything with baling wire, duct tape and bubble gum. His passions were his family, restoring cars, playing with his dogs and cats, reading a book and telling a good joke. He was proud to be a member of the Masonic Lodge. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Barbara. He is survived by his wife Marva, Sons David R. Sykes and his wife Angie of Elizabeth City, North Carolina, Ross A. Sykes and his wife Carmen Sykes of South Cle Elum, Washington and daughter Terri Sykes and Jason Nooner of Roswell: Also surviving him are Uncle Norman Babe and Aunt Aileen Butts of Dexter and their families: Uncle Clifford and Aunt Mabel Butts of Dexter and their families: Nieces and nephews Shawni Cornely Robert, Christy Cates, Cheyenne Sons Paul, Daynette FennerAdam, Kimberly Aston, Casey Aston Laura: He is also survived by all his great nieces and nephews that brought joy to his life. He had so many special friends and relatives in his life and he cherished the time he spent with them. A memorial service is scheduled for 1 pm on Monday, May 27th at the Midway Assembly of God, Pastor Danny Sons officiating. He was giving in life so in lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of choice in his name. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard Funeral Home and Crematory.
