Rosa Lewis

Rosa Evedine York Lewis was born to Emmitt and Pearl York both whom became Ministers on April 17, 1927 in Terry County near Brownfield, Texas. She was the first child in a family of seven daughters and one son. She made the transition from this life into the arms of her Saviour Jesus Christ the Righteous on March 13, 2013 at the age of 85 years in Mesquite, Texas.

In 1942 she met and married the love of her life Loyd James Jack Lewis and they shortly thereafter formed a ministerial team he as a Pastor and she as the First Lady in a bond that lasted for 42 years until his death. They worked together in starting and pastoring several churches in New Mexico and Texas and the last being in Lawrence, Kansas.

After her husbands death in 1984 she moved to Odessa, Texas where she attended the First United Pentecostal Church. She also was employed by Sams Club in Midland for many years. In 2006 she moved to Dallas, Texas to be with family.
They had 3 children Jimmy Loyd Lewis wife ILA, Carroll Gene Lewis wife Sharon and Karen Rose Belknap husband Don Deceased. There are 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. All 3 of her children are ministers and pastors, as are several of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. As you can see she mothered a very religious family many of whom are musically inclined. Rosa Lewis was one of the most praying ladies you will ever meet. She has left a great legacy for her family to follow. God came first in her life.

Her sisters are: Jewel Jimenez husband Joe deceased, Joyce Harless husband H. E. Bill deceased, Reba Wooldridge husband Lynn, Glenda Dunn husband Royce and 1 Brother Larry York wife Phyllis. Her Mother and Father are both deceased as are 2 of her sisters Virginia and Sylvia.

Our Mother, Rosa Lewis, was raised during the Great Depression and learned the value of a dollar. She was very frugal and spent her money wisely. She took great care in what she had and saved many things. She cared for and provided for not only her children, but also helped provide so much for her nieces and nephews especially when they were very young. She has made a great difference in so many lives.
