Ronnie Raymond Van Winkle

Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 18, 2009 at First United Methodist Church for Ronnie Van Winkle, 66, of Roswell who lost his battle with cancer and was called home to be with the Lord on May 13, 2009. Rev. Gorton Smith of First United Methodist Church will officiate. Ronnies wish was to die in Roswell-he did and was surrounded by family and friends. The local veterans honor guard will provide military honors.

Ronnie was born on November 14, 1942 in Roswell to Lawrence Granvil Van Winkle and Dorothy Lee Waddell. His father has preceded him in death.

Ronnie married Charla Dene Denene Hale on March 21, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. His wife survives him at the family home.

Ronnie is also survived by his son: Jared Carlysle Van Winkle of Roswell; his daughters: Jamie Bouldin of Roswell, Jolie Van Winkle of Albuquerque and Krista Van Winkle Riley and husband Bobby of Lubbock, TX; his mother: Dorothy Lee Waddell; his brothers: Jonnie F. Van Winkle of Ruidoso Downs, NM and Richard G. Van Winkle of Roswell; his sister: Jo Ann Humphrey; and two granddaughters: Bennett Bouldin and Lauren Bouldin both of Roswell. He is also survived by 6 nieces and 7 nephews.

Ronnie was born and raised in Roswell and was owner of Van Winkle Roofing. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pecos Valley Society of Trainmen, Army National Guard, Roswell Rotary Club, New Mexico Roofing Contractors Association, City of Roswell Planning and Zoning Committee, Chaves County Planning and Zoning Commission, Extra- Territorial Planning and Zoning Commission, New Mexico National Guard Association Committee, Roswell Chamber of Commerce Red Coats, National Roofing Contractors Association, Mid-Western States Roofing Contractors Association, Western States Roofing Contractors Association, National Roofing Legal Resource Committee, Employers Support of the Guard and Reserve and numerous volunteer organizations in support of our community.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jared Van Winkle, Jonnie Van Winkle and Richard Van Winkle.
