Ronald Guy Fix
Per his request there will be no services for Ronald Guy Fix who left this world April 9, 2009. No more lottery tickets or cigarettes needed.
Ron was born to Charles Walter and Grace Lucy Walck Fix in Peters Township, PA on April 7, 1937. Tough times and circumstances caused Ron to be placed in the care of the Childrens Aid Society in Chambersburg, PA when he was 4 and stayed in their care until he was 16. He then did my time in the USAF, part of that in Korea, and next stationed in Tierra Amarilla, NM the most isolated radar site in the U.S. While there he located his brother Lee who was assigned to Walker, AFB in Roswell. When visiting Lee he fell in love with the climate. After moving back to Pennsylvania he worked for Bartlett Tree Experts where he learned all aspects of tree care from instructor George Pogue, the best in the business. He couldnt work in the snow so his mind wandered back to the sunshine in Roswell, NM. Where he began the Valley Tree Service which he operated until poor health forced him to retire. He was proud of the hard physical labor he put into so many trees in Roswell and the surrounding areas. He could make any tree pretty, doing his part to keep Roswell beautiful.
Always with a joke, a story or a song. His most memorable being his rendition of Al Jolson complete with black face at the Performing Arts Center, ENMU-Roswell; a standing ovation; what more could you ask for
He had pride in being privileged to be elected both secretary and president of the Downtown Lions Club.
Ron married Phyllis Bach on August 10, 1962 in Roswell. Together they had two daughters, Georgianna Hunt Brett and Cheryl Gruette, grandchildren, Amy Marling Bishop and William Naylor Jr., great grandchildren, Degan Hill, Hunter Rothe, Heather and Zoey Naylor. Also survived by brothers, JackNancy Fix, LeeTerry Fix and John Fisher sister Harriet Butler all of PA. 6 nephews and 3 nieces. Mother in law Mary L.
