Roman Sanchez Landez

A rosary service is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 28, 2007, at St. Johns Catholic Church for Roman Sanchez Landez, 89 of Roswell, who passed away October 25, 2007. A funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 29, 2007 at St. Johns Catholic Church. Fr. Juan Montoya, O.F.M. will officiate, burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Miltary graveside will be provided by the local veterans group.

Roman was born on February 28, 1918 in Shiner, Texas to Jose Landez and Paula Sanchez. His parents have preceded him in death as well as a son Raul Landez, sisters; Leonarda Munoz, Lucy Gallegos brothers Crispin and Ismael Landez.

Roman married Maria Fierro on June 3rd, 1951 in Roswell, New Mexico. She survives him at the family home. In their 56 years of marriage they were blessed with three children.

Roman is also survived by his daughters; Linda Landez Garcia and husband Mario of Las Cruces, Maria Landez Torrez and husband Gary of Roswell and six grandchildren; Noah Landez Espinoza, Matthew Landez Torrez, Mario Roman Garcia Venetia Raquel Torrez, David J., Marie L. Garcia, brothers; Jose, and Manuel Landez, sisters: Arcelia Landez, and Angelica Landez Reyes.

Roman loved football, especially his Dallas Cowboys. He was a good father, provider and husband. In his retired years he loved to work on his house, work on his yard, go fishing and play BINGO. Roman loved his grandchildren dearly, he will be deeply missed.

Pallbearers will be Mike Garcia, Jr., Savino Sanchez, Jr., Daniel Munoz, Al Munoz, Robert Lopez and Louis Fierro. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Torrez, Mario Garcia, Oscar Montero and Jaime Montero.
