Roger Joseph Durand, 54, passed away unexpectedly early Saturday morning, February 23, 2019 at his home with his wife Sherry by his side.
Roger was born in Roswell, NM to Joe and Martha Durand on December 10, 1964. He spent his entire 54 years in Dexter. Roger married Sherry Parriera September 12, 1985, and they had two sons, Taylor and Tim. Roger is survived by all the above along with his sister, Michelle Runyan and her two daughters, Ashley and Alysia, and her three grandsons of Garland, Texas.
Roger farmed the family farm with his father and sons. He was Dexter's USPS Rural Mail Deliverer for the past fifteen years. Roger was a devoted and loving son, husband, father and brother. Every day his family knew Roger would be checking in on them.
The 4th of July was his favorite holiday and all his Lake Van neighbors enjoyed his enthusiasm over the years at their celebrations. Roger shared his passion of sports with his boys. Well, maybe, his passion was arguing with the guys every weekend watching the games. They also enjoyed an extremely competitive Fantasy Football competition each season and he truly loved his role as Leader of the "Dexter Demon Chain Gang."
Honorary pallbearers: Todd Bible (deceased), Larry Benedict, Joe Freeland, Ben Coats, Scott Bogle, Lee Parriera, Steve Powell, and John Thomas Reid.
Memorial services will be held at Dexter's First Presbyterian Church on Friday, March 1, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Stephen Deutsch officiating.
Friday afternoon there will be a Celebration of Life for Roger Durand at The Farm. The family would love for everyone to come by and share your memories of Roger with family and friends.
