A memorial service is scheduled for 11 am, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Grace Community Church for Robert Burke Naylor, 82, who passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Casa Maria Healthcare Center.

Bob was born August 18, 1933 in Phoenix, AZ to William Naylor and Ione Casey Naylor who preceded him in death. He is also preceded in death by his grandson Brynn Naylor and brother Al Naylor. Bob married Elisabeth (Sue) Yriart on June 30, 1956 in Roswell, NM; she survives him at the family home.

He is also survived by his sons, Ross Naylor and wife Kennetta, John Naylor and wife Marilyn and Scot Naylor and wife Kristi; brothers Milton Naylor and wife Barbie , Gary Naylor and wife Jean, sisters Eloise Butler and husband Ed and Sharon Sloan and husband Dave. Bobs surviving grandchildren are Suzann, Mitch, Kelsey, Austin and Dane Naylor and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bob developed his love for animals growing up on his family's small farm in Phoenix AZ. He went to college at Cal Poly in California, but after one year transferred to the University of Arizona and majored in Animal Science. He was on the U of A rodeo team and the livestock judging team. This is where Bob met Sue and there life started together. After graduating from the university in 1956, Bob served two years in the Army at Ft. Bliss, TX. When Bob completed his military service he and Sue returned to Roswell. They resided on the family ranch, Bob working with his father-in-law Graciano Yriart and Sue raising their sons. The ranch was sold in 1977.Bob then went on to get his real estate license in 1978. He sold and appraised ranches with Ronnie Mayer until 1982. In 1980, Bob sold a ranch to Bob Armstrong. It was a sheep and cattle ranch with two farms (Salt Creek Farm and Ranch) Bob managed the operation for Bob Armstrong for the next twenty-two years.

Bob was president of the New Mexico Wool Growers Association in 1974 - 1975. He then served on the Board of Directors for many years. In 1982 Tony Treat and Bob purchased Roswell Wool & Mohair Inc when it was put up for sale, they wanted to be sure the wool warehouse was kept open to support the local sheep industry. Bob managed the warehouse until he and Tony sold it 1994. Bob and his son's also were in the sheep trading business (Naylor Livestock). Bob and his sons spent many falls purchasing lambs from ranchers in southeastern New Mexico and running old ewes on area fields. Bob retired in 2002.

In 2005, Bob was named Sheepman of the Year by the New Mexico Wool Growers Association. Tom Runyan said it best "Bob Naylor was a man of character".

Bob was also a big sports fan. He hardly ever missed one of his sons sporting events while they were growing up. He often would make the 52 mile drive from the ranch just to attend a little league game. He himself was very involved in area youth sports, serving as president of Lions Hondo Little League and the Roswell Youth Football league. In his later years he attended his grandchildren sporting activities, dance recitals and choir recitals and was always proud of all of his grandchildren. Bob was also a huge Arizona Diamondback fan, never missing a game on TV.

Our Family would like to thank the staff at Casa Maria for the excellent care they gave Dad the last weeks of his life.
