Services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at Ballard Funeral Home for Robert L. Hooser, 69, of Roswell, who passed away June 7, 2007 in Lubbock. Pastor Richard Smith will officiate. Burial of ashes will follow at South Park Cemetery.

Robert was born on February 22, 1938 in Hot Springs, New Mexico to Truman Hooser and Lois Conwell Hooser. His parents have preceded him in death as well as a son; Robert Louis Hooser Jr. and two brothers; Gerald and Gene Hooser.

Robert married Anita Jones on May 2, 1976 in Roswell. She survives him at the family home.

He is also survived by his step sons: Allen Chuck Dwyer of Roswell, Randall Lee and his wife Ann of Carrollton, Texas and Bradley Young of Roswell; his daughters: Laura Ann Grooms and husband David of Ottumwa, Iowa and Cynthia Lynn Combs of Vallejo, California; his sister in law: Grace Hooser of Lakeside, California, and Patricia Hooser of Grapeland, Texas; his grandchildren: Paula and John Grooms, Daniel and Bekki Combs, Allen Jr., Johnny, Robert Allen and Jeremy Dwyer, Christopher and Jarrod Lee, and Colton and Cassandra Young; and also survived by first wife and special friend K Lynn Hooser of Des Moines, Iowa.

Robert joined the US Navy in 1955 and was stationed in Alaska, Spain, Vietnam and Puerto Rico. While in the service he was an electrician. In 1963 he was assigned to President Kennedys Staff at Camp David but was transferred to President Johnson staff after President Kennedy assassination. Robert retired in 1974. In June of 1976 he went into the Civil Service at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. He was last employed with Civil Service at Kelley Air Force Base in San Antonio. Robert then moved back to Roswell in 2000.

Robert loved to go fishing and has lived in Roswell for 25 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
