Services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2009 at St. Andrews Episcopal Church for Richard Ellsworth Weed, 73, of Roswell who passed away on May 25, 2009 at Mission Arch. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery. Fr. Tom Gray of St. Andrews Episcopal Church will officiate.
Richard was born on October 16, 1935 in Summit, New Jersey to Gordon and Ruth Weed. Richard graduated from New Mexico State University in 1962 as a Civil Engineer. He went to work for the US Forest Service and later worked for the NM Highway Department until his retirement. Richard was a licensed Professional Engineer and was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was also a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church. Richard was also in the US Army and a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Richard met and married Diane Jordan on October 19, 1958, and they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year. Richard was a resident of Billings, Montana until moving to Roswell in 2003. He was an active member of the Elks Club in Billings and enjoyed traveling across the country.
Richards wife, Diane, survives him at their family home in Roswell. He is also survived by his three sons: Scott J. Weed and his wife, Kathy, of Ridgecrest, CA, Kent R. Weed and his wife, Jane, of Corona, CA, and Troy U. Weed and his wife, Jade, of Corona, CA and his brother, Gordon Weed of Summerfield, Florida. Richard is also survived by his grandchildren: Jordan, Erika, and Jason Weed.
