Richard Ballesteros

Richard Arthur Ballesteros Jr.

A rosary is scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at St. Johns Catholic Church for Richard Arthur Ballesteros Jr., age 25, of Albuquerque, NM, who passed away on May 11, 2008 at his home. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, May 16, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church Fr. Juan Montoya O.F.M. will officiate. Interment will follow the service at South Park Cemetery.

Richard was born on February 20, 1983 in Los Angeles, California to Richard F. Ballesteros Sr., and Norma Nieto.

On August 10, 2007 he married Enedina Valdez in Canyon, Texas. She survives him at the family home.

Richard, a former resident of Dexter, NM, graduated from Dexter High School where he was a successful student and athlete. He excelled in varsity track and field, basketball, and football. After graduation he attended the University of New Mexico where he would receive his Bachelors Degree in Psychology in December of 2008. He received the Whos Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges award in the spring semester of 2008 for his excellent achievements as a student at UNM. Richard was an active member and former president of Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, Inc. He received many achievements and excellent awards as a member of Omega Delta Phi, including Knights of the Roundtable. Richard was employed with the College Assistance Migrant Program as a tutormentor at UNM.

Survivors include his wife Enedina, and unborn daughter; Izabella, his parents Richard Ballesteros Sr. and Norma Nieto and her husband Larry, all of Roswell, brother; Hector Sanchez, of Albuquerque, sisters; Erica Chavez and her husband Jake of Roswell, Yvonne Ballesteros, Dennise Ballesteros, and Joanne Ballesteros all of California, grandparents; Josephina and Trinidad Saenz of Chihuahua, Mexico, Nora and Arthur Ballesteros of California and Grandma Lencha Alvarez of Roswell. He is also survived by numerous nephews, and nieces.
