Renesmee “Rene” Divas Donis
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Renesmee “Rene” Divas Donis, who passed away on December 20, 2023 in Amarillo, TX. She was born on March 23, 2022 in Lincoln, NE to parents Greg Isaac Martinez and Areli Divas Donis. Rene left this earth a true hero as she gave the blessing of life to others by her organs being donated.
Rene’s short life was filled with immense love and joy. She touched the hearts of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. Rene was an energetic, curious, sassy, and intelligent baby girl whose radiant smile and infectious laugh filled the room with delight. Rene loved music, dancing, food, and enjoyed watching Coco and the ABC’s. Rene loved playing with her sisters and her big brother Ivan. She would move her playpen like she was a driver in Fast and Furious. She could make you crack a smile if you were down and having a bad day. She loved her crackers, donuts, french fries, and was an overall food connoisseur. Rene, although young, knew of the Lord and loved to sing Jesus loves me.
Rene is survived by her father, Greg Isaac Martinez and mother Areli Divas Donis. Rene was a treasured sister to Lizet, Elena, and Ivan Martinez. She was the beloved granddaughter to grandparents; Gregorio and Josephine Martinez and Willman Telon and Lesbia Donis as well as great grandmothers; Connie Amador and Maria Martinez. Rene is also survived by her tias; Sarah Candelaria, Marianna Martinez and tio Brad McCoy, Adriana and tio Joe Flores, Lucia Martinez, and Chelo Amador and tio Ryan Mahan and uncles; Andrew Candelaria, John and aunt Corina Amador, Michael Amador, Andrew Donis Telon and Gustavo Donis. She is also survived by her forever friends and cousins, Aaliyah Flores and Grayson and Israel McCoy. She has numerous family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Rene’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and everyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by great grandfathers, John Gilbert Amador and Gregorio Martinez as well as her aunts Eva Candelaria, Christina Martinez, and Elena Martinez as well as many other beloved family members.
Honored to serve has pallbearers are Lizet Martinez, Elena Martinez, Aaliyah Flores, and Grayson McCoy. Honorary pallbearers are Ivan Martinez and Israel McCoy.
The viewing will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 from 4 pm to 6 pm at La Grone Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Wednesday, December 27 at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 115 W. 11th St. in Roswell with Pastor Michael Coffman officiating. Burial will follow at the South Park Cemetery.
During this time of unimaginable grief, the family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to family, friends, and the community for the outpouring of love, prayers, donations, and condolences. Special thanks to Presley Hern, Nicole Vargas, The Ronald McDonald House, brothers and sisters in Christ from Amarillo, TX, and all of the doctors, nurses, and medical personnel who assisted in Rene’s medical care.
