Rebecca Lynn Mendoza
A vigil rosary is scheduled for 7:00 pm, Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Assumption Catholic Church for Rebecca Mendoza 39, who passed away on March 10, 2011 in Freeport, TX. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 12:10 pm, Thursday, May 5, 2011, also at Assumption Catholic Church.
Rebecca was born October 7, 1971 in Roswell, NM to Daniel and Janie Mendoza. Her parents survive her in Roswell, NM. Also surviving her are her very special companion, her beloved dog and best friend, Andy brother, Mike Mendoza of Hagerman sisters, Elizabeth Salazar and husband David of Roswell, Linda Mendoza of Hagerman and Becky Vigil and husband Rick of Chula Vista, CA nephews, Chase and David Salazar, Jr. of Roswell, Tommy Powell of Chandler, AZ, Michael Mendoza of Albuquerque, and Richard Vigil of Chula Vista, CA nieces, Brittany Salazar of Roswell, Kristy Dunnahoo of Hagerman, Gerina Mendoza Pillar of Dallas, TX and Victoria Vigil of Chula Vista, CA grandmothers, Willie Ruth Allison of Gallup and Balentina Mendoza of Roswell, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and very special friends, Kimberly, Greg, Connie, Charlie Lois and many whom loved her.
She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Eathel Allison and Inez Mendoza great grandmother, Vetie Cummings and cousins, Victoria Whitaker and Gabriel Mendoza.
Rebecca graduated from Roswell High with Honors in 1990 and continued her education at ENMUR Nursing Program earning a degree as a Registered Nurse. She worked as a Registered Nurse for several years before being inspired by a young patient named Thomas to learn sign language. At the present time, she was furthering her education to become a Sign Language Interpreter.
Rebecca loved fishing, hiking, arrowhead and pottery hunting, as well as painting, drawing and recently was learning how to make pottery. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her nephew, David teaching him to play golf and hunting and fishing with her Dad.
Rebecca was a beautiful person with a kind, caring, loving and gentle sole who has left us to go onto a life of eternal peace and rest. Until we meet again, we all love you and miss you deeply.
The family will be having a reception at The Faternal Order of Eagles following the service.
