A rosary is scheduled for 7:00 pm, Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Ballard Chapel for Raymond Jimenez Nunez, 85, who passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 am, on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 also at St. Johns Catholic Church with Deacon Ernesto Martinez. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery with Roswell Veterans Honor Guard providing Military Graveside services. Following the graveside service the family will gather at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 900 E. 23rd St.
Raymond was born February 29, 1928 in Lubbock, TX to Inez Rufuvia Jimenez Nunez. His parents preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his sisters Vera Loeffler and Martha Anaya. In 1950 he married his love, Antonia Valencia she survives him at the family home.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons Joe Nunez and wife Yolanda and Ricardo Nunez daughters Veronica Nunez and Elizabeth Brady and his sister Flora Lucero. Also surviving him are eight grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Raymond served in the United States Air Force. He was stationed in Guam as well as Singapore. He was active in his community. Raymond served in the Roswell Honor Guard for many years. He volunteered to pass out poppies on Veterans Day as well as placing flags on veterans graves. Raymond coached Little League Baseball. He also played drums in his band called The Four Tops. Raymond loved to build and fly model airplanes. He was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church.
Serving as pallbearers are: Daniel Gomez, Martin Gamez, Rick Brady, Emily Garcia, Thomas Nunez and Ricky Ray Nunez. Honorary pallbearers are: Santianna Analla , Santiago Olivas, Michael Nunez, Orlando Lucero, David Gomez, Rolly Valencia, Louie Barrera, Ray Barrera, Santiago Valencia, Jennifer Nunez and Robert Anaya.
The family would like to thank Gentiva Hospice and a special thank you to Anita Marrujo and staff at Lovelace Hospital as well as Dr. Oscar Hernandez. Thank you to all the people who donated to Raymonds expenses, KMart, The Knights of Columbus, Katianna and The Coronado Family.
